How to undo a Mail you send in Gmail
You’ve probably experienced it: In the middle of an email, you suddenly press the send button before you’ve finished typing! “Oh no! After all, I hadn’t even made it to the point ”But it’s too late. The mail has already been sent to the manager, or an important business associate – who, following the incoherent and confused message, will most likely choose another partner for future projects. Sent has been sent and there is not much you can do about it. It doesn’t help much to throw the computer out of the window or hope that the floor will open and that the entire office will disappear into the hole.
Fortunately, there is now a resort! Because it has become possible to undo sending Google messages! You have to be very quick on the trigger to use these tricks, but the most important thing is that the option now exists – and that you remember to change the settings.
How to get your mail back
This “undo” button has been available in Gmail Labs for six years already, but it is only now that the opportunity is open to everyone.
Here is how to use it:
- Login to your Gmail account
- Press the button “Settings” in the top right corner
- Choose settings in the menu
- Scroll down and find “Undo Sending”
- Active Undo Sending
Now you choose how long the withdrawal period should be. The possibilities are 5, 10, 20 and 30 seconds, and although none of them give you much time, it’s amazing how much you can do, and not least, in 30 seconds:
Scroll down a little, click Save Changes at the bottom of the page … and you’re done!
You can test if it works right away. Click the Write New button, type a small e-mail for yourself, and click Send. At the top of the page, a line appears: “Your message has been sent. Undo. See message ”. If you’re fast enough, press Cancel and Gmail will notify you that the sending has been interrupted.
It’s not hard at all! Just remember to enable this option so you are prepared the next time you step in the spinach!
We cross our fingers so you don’t have to use the undo button very often, but it’s good to know that you can if you need to!
